A center axis tourbillon is a technically advanced form of tourbillon in which the rotating tourbillon cage is directly incorporated onto the central axis of the watch movement. The cage containing the escapement and balance wheel rotates once per minute around the movement's central axis line. This central axis positioning allows for more efficient transmission of energy from the mainspring to the escapement components.
